Frances Hart Dalton
Frances and Biddy were married 2 Nov 1823 in Madison County, Kentucky. The first three children of Frances and Biddy were born in Madison County, Kentucky. Before 1830 they moved the family to DeKalb County, Missouri, where the other three children were born. Frances and all his sons were farmers.
Frances served the Union in the American Civil War. In an undated article about his service posted on Ancestry dot com Kenneth Haas wrote, "Francis H. Dalton enlisted in the Missouri State Militia 17 May 1862, as part of the Union forces. He was mustered in 19 May 1862. He gave his age as 53. He was actually 67 years old. He furnished a horse and equipment to the Militia Cavalry." He participated in several actions as a private in H Company, 4th Regiment, Missouri State Militia Cavalry. "Francis Hart Dalton was absent sick during Nov. and Dec. [1862] muster rolls and Jan and Feb muster rolls in 1863. He was discharged 3 Apr 1863 at Warrensburg, Missouri. He returned home about 25 April in very debilitated condition. The doctors said he had typhoid and would not recover. He died 20 May 1863." On 14 Jun 1869 Biddy filed requesting a widows pension from the US Government.
After the death of Frances Dalton in 1863 his wife Biddy lived with the family of her daughter Margaret and her husband William P Thomas in Washington, DeKalb, Missouri. Biddy died in 1886.
